A Small Shop, A Stronger Future for Hawo’s Family

Hawo Abdi is a mother living in Afgooye District in Lower Shabelle, where she supports a household of six children. Like many families in the area, their livelihood depended on small and irregular sources of income, which made it difficult to cover daily needs such as food, clothing, and school expenses.

Before receiving support, Hawo ran a v

ery small retail stall in her neighborhood, but the limited stock and lack of capital meant her earnings were not enough to sustain her family.

Through the EU Negaad, implemented by SHACDO in partnership with Concern Worldwide and funded by European Union, Hawo was identified as a vulnerable household in need of livelihood support. The program provided her with business guidance and support to strengthen her small shop, helping her improve the availability of basic goods and manage her business

more effectively.

Today, Hawo’s shop has grown and attracts more customers from the surrounding community. The income she earns now helps her provide food and other essential needs for her children  and contributes to the stability of her household.Hawo shared her appreciation for the support: “Before the support, my small shop could not provide enough for my family.
